Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance 2010
September 11-12, 2010 saw the return of the 7th Annual Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance to the Fairfield Hunt Club in Westport, CT. Though gray skies threatened rain for the concours on Sunday, the rains never came but the awesome cars and crowds did show up.
Awards presented on field ranged from best pre and post-war foreign and domestics to Porsche, Bugatti, Aston Martin, Motorcyles and Barn-Find categories. The Barn-Find category was particularly interesting as you can see from Wayne Carini’s SAAB to the Split Window Corvette. Featured as well were categories of automobiles “Styled by the Wind”, cars with coachwork by Drake “Dutch” Darrin and photography by Jesse Alexander.
Our favorite categories come in the realm of sports cars and this year that meant Porsche as well as the Le Mans race category. These two judged classes did not disappoint and are worthy of individual follow up in forthcoming posts.
Here we share several outstanding automobiles we saw on the field at the 2010 Fairfield County Concours including the winner of The Grand Prix d’Honneur Domestic, the 1940 Duesenberg SJ and the Grand Prix d’Honneur Foreign 1931 Bugatti Type 54. We hope you enjoy and feel free to chime in!

It’s encouraging to know that even though cloudy skies threaten concours events such as this one, a near 7,000 visitors are still willing to come to brave the chilly winds to view these amazing collector and show cars. Each year the Fairfield County Concours staff do an amazing job of hosting this major event so it’s well worth it to enter your classic into this event or to just show up with the family to have a relaxing day out perusing the most wonderful cars in the collector car world. A special thanks goes out to the organizers/founders Bill Scheffler and John Shuck.

Amazing pics! Thorough write up.
However, do you realize that you are supporting an antiquated global hazard in petrol fueled vehicles?

Ahh, yes indeed we support petrol fueled vehicles but we also support new Hybrid Technology in sports cars such as the Porsche 911 GT3R Hybrid and the new 918 Hybrid Spyder that will be coming out. We must preserve the past to learn for the future! And we are excited to see more and more clean technology coming to the surface.
Most of the cars you see here are driven very few miles each year – they are collectibles.
