The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of America’s Best Driving Roads, not only for its great driving qualities, but also for the scenic views it offers. The Parkway runs from Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park through the high-hills of North Carolina to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. Started as a massive public works project built during and after the Great Depression, today the Parkway is maintained with public and private funds. And when we say maintained it really is in fantastic shape. Well known amongst bikers and drivers alike for its great curves (rivaling those at “Tail of the Dragon” / Deal’s Gap) the Parkway offers unparalleled driving pleasure and scenic delights.

October 4th, 2008 saw BMW owners gather for BMFeast at the Swim and Sport Club in Flanders, New Jersey for a fun day of browsing BMW cars, photo snapping, picknicking and socializing; there was a bit of engine revving as well here and there. 😉
Over 400 BMW’s showed up for the car show on a beautiful sunny day. Organizers spread word through forums such as E90 Post, S14.net, Bimmerfest and Bimmerpost. Car owners from as far as Maryland and Connecticut washed, waxed and drove up E30’s, E92’s, M5’s, M6’s and more gorgeous models. (more…)

Is the Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix du Canada really going by the way-side for Formula 1 world tour? According to several articles posted over the past few days, it appears as if the last North American F1 Race may indeed be gone for this year and perhaps for good? This will be the first time since 1987 that Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve would not see the F1 chassis pound the pavement in this great motor-sports race.

On Sunday August 24th, 2008 local collector car enthusiasts came out to Warwick, New York for a car show to raise money for the Winslow Riding Center, a local not for profit organization that runs a therapeutic horseback riding center for riders with disabilities.
Modern sports, muscle and vintage collector cars of all makes and models came to the event. There was even a small area for historic motorcycles to park and join in on the fun. It turned out to be a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and huge amounts of money raised for this great cause. Sports Car Advisors brought out 2 cars this day so we shared in the contributions 😉

Sunday August 10th, 2008 brought the Hemmings Sports & Exotics Car Show to the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga Springs, New York. Triumph cars was the featured marque and sports and exotic cars of all makes came out to Saratoga Springs on this day. The show started promptly at 10am but by about 1pm heavy thunderstorms and lightning sent everyone packing and heading for the roads. The Saratoga Automobile Museum is a great venue and Saratoga Springs has so much to offer for weekend out; from Horse Racing at the famed Saratoga tracks to Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), it’s a fantastic town to have a car show. Threatening showers on Wednesday July 30 lead to a smaller (than the usual 300 cars or so) turnout at Bear Mountain. A couple of die hard car enthusiasts came out to show their cars as they did not fear the rain. Hey, not all these cars are “garage queens”, though in our opinion, some of them should be. We were fortunate enough to run into the great guys from Performance Rentals, Inc who brought out their 750 Horsepower Supercharged Dodge Viper SRT-10 and their Ferrari F355 GTS. If anyone is looking to rent some killer, “real” performance cars (no paddle shifters, please), these are the guys to go to. They have a stable of about 10 awesome sports cars that you’ll definitely have some fun with. (more…)

Day 2 at the New England Concours d’Elegance saw cruise-in participants show up in droves to Stratton Mountain’s upper parking areas. Classic cars including Chrysler Letter Series, Porsche 911’s, MG’s, and many rare cars were on display. Cars were parked on top of the main parking garage and food was catered by Stratton. Chairs were folded out behind the cars and owners and spectators exchanged stories and information on cars of all makes and models. Each car has a story and all owners at cruise-in events are proud to display dossiers and discuss how and where they found their cars, and how and when they were restored or preserved in great condition.
